Springer Middle School gets upgrades to their veggie garden thanks to Troop 67!

Thanks to a joint community service project of Boy Scout Troop 67 Wilmington, Delaware and the nonprofit organization Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids (HFHK) we are proud to announce that Springer Middle School now has wheelchair access to their vegetable garden.  Troop 67 came out in force on Saturday March 8, 2014 to modify the existing garden by raising the planting bed and building a ramp into the garden.

HFHK began at Springer back in 2005.  Now there are gardens at over 20 schools throughout the state of Delaware.  You can read about the group on their website here.  And check out their latest newsletter thru this link.

This service project is just one of many that are undertaken every year by Troop 67's scouts, leaders, and families.  We literally give hundreds of hours per year to our community.  And many projects are completely funded through the troop and private donations (although this Springer garden wheelchair accessibility project was funded by a federal grant won by HFHK).  Boy scouts the world over are known for their good deeds. . . the scouts of Troop 67 certainly have taken that spirit to heart!
